Grooming frequency follows coat biology: curly coats grow and mat continuously, double coats cycle through seasonal blows, short coats mostly need skin care and shedding control. Here’s the schedule we actually recommend to Phoenix clients at the salon.

• Pool season — chlorine dries coats and swimming tangles them; doodles that swim need brushing the same day

• Year-round shedding — mild winters mean many double coats never fully stop blowing coat, so deshedding stays a rotation, not a spring event

The Signals Your Dog Is Overdue

• Comb won’t glide to the skin — matting has started, book now before it pelts
• Doggy smell within a week of a bath — skin oils and buildup need a proper bath & blow-out
• Visible eye-corner crust or a stained beard — face trim time
