Dog Haircuts
Dog Haircuts in Phoenix, AZ That Actually Match the Photo
Breed-standard patterns, teddy bear trims, and custom styles — scissored by a groomer who competes on cut quality.
Haircuts With Competition-Level Scissor Work
There’s a difference between a haircut that’s short and a haircut that’s right. Andrew grooms competitively at events like CPPGA CaliGroom, where judges measure symmetry, blend, and breed profile down to the centimeter — and your dog gets that same eye at every appointment. Ears even. Topknot balanced. Angulation that flatters your dog’s build instead of fighting it.
Popular requests at our Phoenix salon include:
- Teddy bear & puppy cuts — round faces, plush bodies, easy upkeep
- Breed-standard trims — schnauzers, westies, cockers, shih tzus, yorkies
- Doodle & poodle styling — see our dedicated poodle grooming page
- Practical desert cuts — shorter bodies with sun protection left where it counts
- Custom styles — mohawks, lion cuts, and anything you can show us in a photo
The Right Length for Arizona Living
A great Phoenix haircut has to survive triple-digit summers, pool days, and desert dust. We’ll talk through your dog’s routine — hiking Dreamy Draw, backyard sprinkler season, mostly indoors on tile — and cut for it. Shorter isn’t always cooler: coat left at the right length protects skin from sunburn, so we aim for the sweet spot between airflow and protection.
What a Haircut Appointment Includes
Every haircut is built on a clean canvas: bath, blow-dry, and brush-out come first, because cutting a dirty coat dulls shears and leaves ragged lines. Nails are trimmed, face, feet and sanitary areas tidied, and you get honest advice on brushing between visits so the style lasts. It’s a full groom with the styling dialed up.

“Andrew is amazing. My dogs love him which is saying a lot! Before going to Andrew, my St. Berdoodle in particular did not like going to be groomed but since going to Andrew, he looks forward to it and it's a happy reunion every time. He does an excellent job. It's clear that he loves what he does and loves all dogs.”

Dog Haircut FAQs
Can I bring a photo of the haircut I want?
Please do! Photos are the fastest way to get on the same page. We’ll tell you honestly whether the style works for your dog’s coat type and how to maintain it between visits.
What haircut styles do you offer?
Everything from breed-standard trims (schnauzer pattern, westie head, spaniel feathering) to practical puppy cuts, teddy bear heads, lion cuts, and fully custom styles. Competition-level scissor work means clean lines either way.
Will you shave my double-coated dog for summer?
We generally advise against shaving double coats — in Arizona heat the undercoat actually insulates against the sun, and shaving can permanently damage coat regrowth. We’ll recommend a deshedding treatment and trim instead, and explain why.
How often should my dog get a haircut?
Most haircut breeds look and feel best on a 4–8 week cycle. Doodles and poodles trend toward the shorter end. See our full guide on grooming frequency for a breed-by-breed breakdown.
